Cape Clasp Partners with National Park Foundation on New Line of Ocean Plastic Bracelets
Cape Cod brand launches Season 3 of Tikós to protect our national parks
FALMOUTH, Mass. - For many, a love and appreciation for nature started with a trip to one of our country’s national parks. These parks provide an opportunity to unplug and explore the wilderness, an opportunity that is arguably more important now than ever before. Unfortunately there is also a growing issue of waste in our environment with more than 100 million pounds of trash being left behind. Trash which can find its way into our oceans through rivers and storm drains.
Over thirteen million tons of plastic flows into the ocean each and every year and the EPA has found that 80 percent of that trash originates from land-based sources. Cape Clasp is working to address and tackle this problem through a new partnership with the National Park Foundation.
The Cape Cod-based company has launched a new National Park-inspired season of Tikós, its line of 100% recycled ocean plastic bracelets. Each Tikós cuff is made entirely from plastic that was hauled from the ocean, creating an incentive to clean up our waters and limit your plastic use.
“Our impact on the environment is not something that’s top of mind everyday. That’s why we created Tikós,” says Patrick Clarke, founder of Cape Clasp. “Each cuff serves as a daily reminder to do everything we can to protect our wild spaces. As such, we’re thrilled to partner with the National Park Foundation to inspire even more people to do their part to help preserve these treasured places for all of us.”
This partnership will span 16 unique designs, each honoring a different national park or seashore. Through this collection Cape Clasp is proud to support the work of the National Park Foundation, the official charitable partner of America’s national parks. The first collection of designs is available now and showcases four parks across the country:
- Acadia National Park, Maine
- Cape Cod National Seashore, Massachusetts
- Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
- Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii
"There are so many creative ways to help keep parks green," said Stefanie Mathew, senior vice president of corporate partnerships at the National Park Foundation. "The National Park Foundation is grateful to Cape Clasp for creating park-inspired bracelets that remind people we all have a role to play in protecting these treasured places."
