EARTH DAY CAMPAIGN PREVIEW + VLOG
More than 8 million tons of plastic wind up in the ocean each year. And, by 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean. To protect the marine ecosystem, we need to reduce our plastic use and clean up the trash that is already harming wildlife.
Last Earth Day, we challenged our followers to collect a bag’s worth of trash from a beach to clean up our planet and protect marine life. This year, we’re taking it a step further and hoping to make lasting behavior change and reduce the amount of plastic in our ocean.
Help us #makewaves again on Earth Day, April 22, and clean up your local beach. But before you head out the door to go to the beach, grab an old jar or other container and fill it up with the trash you pick up. Place it on a shelf, counter, or other visible place in your home as a daily reminder to reduce the amount of plastic you use, reuse containers, and recycle used plastic.
Post a photo of your container of beach litter on Instagram and tag @capeclasp / use hashtag #makewaves and we’ll send you a free bracelet.
