5 MUST-TRY ICE CREAM SHOPS ON CAPE COD
A trip to Cape Cod isn’t complete without a trip to the beach or your favorite ice cream shop. But with the Cape being 70 miles long from the bridge to Provincetown, there are seemingly endless options to choose from. We’ve pulled together a couple top picks (and one bonus) for you to check off your list this summer.
The Ice Cream Smuggler
716 Main Street, Dennis
Not many establishments can say that they received the accolade of being featured on The Food Network’s show “The Best Thing I Ever Ate,” but The Ice Cream Smuggler in Dennis can say just that. The shop, which opened in 1979, offers 27 flavors of ice cream and four flavors of frozen yogurt, guaranteeing everyone in your group will find a flavor they love.
Sundae School
606 Main Street, Harwich Port
381 Lower County Road, Dennisport
210 Main Street, East Orleans
With three locations across the Mid- and Lower Cape, chances are there’s a Sundae School near you. Sundae School began making small batch homemade ice cream when it opened its doors in 1976, and has been doing so ever since. All three locations serve dozens of flavors that are made with the finest ingredients available, setting the shop apart from other brands.
Four Seas Ice Cream
360 S Main Street, Centerville
Arguably one of the most popular ice cream places on Cape Cod, Four Seas Ice Cream can be found on most “Best of the Cape” lists. Generations have been enjoying the shop’s homemade ice cream ever since it first opened in 1934. Over the years, the flavors have changed, but one thing has stayed the same: it’s some of the best ice cream you can get on the Cape (and possibly New England!).
Polar Cave Ice Cream Parlour
22 Falmouth Road, Mashpee
Enjoy hand-rolled waffle cones and heaping servings of ice cream at Polar Cave Ice Cream Parlour in Mashpee. The shop, owned by a father-daughter duo, serves ice cream made from a 100 year-old family recipe and is filled with retro memorabilia.
